Hi, here's a question. I sent a new chapter for a story a few weeks ago and it wasn't posted. I sent a mail to Simon (who has responded to my mails before). No response and it wasn't posted again. I sent another mail and again no response and then this week it still wasn't posted. What steps should I take?

After a couple weeks of not reading new updates, I took a chance on Witchman's The Girl with the Big Tits and it was definitely worth a look. Trying to spend more time on writing this year than reading, so I know I'm missing some good stuff as I go, but this year's produced some really nice work for those pieces I have taken the time to read.

Girl with the Big Tits and Tendrils are both quite good imho.  The first one is especially interesting to me because of how different the title character is at the end of chapter 1 and the start of chapter 2.  Raises all sorts of fun questions.

Tendrils is an interesting one, one of the best hypnosis-only stories I've read in a long time.  Chet is actually kind of an interesting character, in that he's a good example of a slight tone difference seperating "loveable loser and hot girlfriend have great sex after he tries hypnosis on her" from "sleazy douche exploits his girlfriend."

I'm now realizing I used interesting three times in two paragraphs.  Too lazy to rewrite it.  All that energy is going into my own smut, thank You!

Seems like months since we last saw something new for This Is Our Story.  Hope the author is okay!

Haven't really found anything that catches my attention otherwise.  I like long stories and most everything has been 5k or under of late.  Just can't seem to catch the heat when the story is over so quickly.

How about finding a series you haven't tried and reading as many chapters as you prefer in one go?

I'm now thinking maybe the act of opening up the next chapter might be enough to nudge someone out of their groove.  It wouldn't be to me but I could see that, and as a writer of short chapters this concerns me.

Interesting thought, does it matter if each chapter is long?

Only when you get one chapter a week.  If the story is already completed, I don't mind short chapters if there's dozens of them to read.  A lot of the stories lately seem to be under 5k words and there's just no time to develop the characters or set up the scenes.  As a reader, I can't build a relationship with the characters or what's going on in the show.  What kind of story can you really tell in so short a time?

Personal taste, I'm sure, but if it's a one-shot story that'll only be one chapter --- 5k seems to be the lower end of the limit in terms of telling a tale with a little build up that sets the characters and tone.   If it's a story planned to many chapters, 5k/chapter seems to give enough meat to each installment so there's room for character development, story development and the sexy part.  Then the reader gets hung on the hook, desperate for next week's installment. :D

To give an example, I found Sammynona's "It Runs In The Family" quite by accident.  The first chapter was long enough that the characters were established and the hook was set.  Oddly, I don't normally go for FF stories, but something about that chapter caught my eye and I decided to read further.  At the time I found it, there were already a dozen or more chapters and the more I read the more I was invested in the story.  While each chapter had some heat, each was also long enough that there was real story development and not just an excuse to get to a sex scene.

One of the things I wish this site had was some kind of filter so I could only search for stories that are 8k or larger.  Here's a fan fiction site with that option and it's dreamy!  No need to worry about short stories cluttering up the search for something to read.... but I don't really care for most fan fiction.

Don't be too concerned.  My take on the subject is surely rather rare.  I'm a reader and I like to read, so sitting down with a good book is no problem.  If the book is part of a series, even better.

With a short chapter, to me it doesn't seem so much a chapter as a scene in a chapter with the rest of the stuff simply edited out so we could have a sex scene or the author was facing a time crunch and just couldn't put the time in to flesh the chapter out.

If the tale is finished, or I found it well under way, the lack of word count in a given chapter isn't that big a deal because I know there's more right around the bend.  If it's a short chapter (scene) and I have to wait a week to find out what happens next.... blah.  It'd have to be a pretty special bit of writing to keep me on the hook.

Well its erotica, it is supposed to live in the head (whatever the reason for its appeal) and everyone has their preference ((usually a preference over length in erotica concerns something MUCH different))  :P

That said, as someone doing a serial style with different perspectives roughly every week and those PoV's often being different lengths, for me its about hitting story beats while giving each PoV an arc (sometimes in that particular chapter) but definitely overall. I could give a shit if my characters orgasm in every chapter so much as the story moves forward or a character changes/grows (not always for the better) and I strive to describe that believably.

I know what you are saying and will add flat out that, in general, smaller word count usually means lower quality. But that isn't always the case. There was one the other week, Antidote... it was a good, fun read, and very short. Maybe browse the discussions here first, or find a "reader" here who's opinion you like and rely on them to clear away the detritus from your path.

I hope many of you are reading “Following Her Dream”.  It has so many things I love in great MC writing.  Well drawn characters who all have depth, even the “villain”.  Hot hypnosis scenes that facilitate a great plot, not overwhelm it.

I hope we see more stories from Shadra.

I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I think you're selling 5k words short.

There's an art to writing short stories, and certainly some botch it, but a lot can be done in that length. One of my favorites (Isaac Asimov's The Last Question) was barely over 4.5k, for instance, and is an all time great.

If you don't like shorter works, that's fine. Everyone has their own preference, after all, but done properly it can definitely convey more than just a quick scene in that length.

It's a double edged sword.  If you exclude short ones you lose some great well crafted short stories.  But you also exclude a ton of stories where the author simply didn't care enough to invest the time in developing their idea fully.  Not talking about this community in particular, just online story archives in general, especially fanfic and such.

Another excellent week!

I love reading about 4-U's adventures, and This is Just 4 U doesn't disappoint in the slightest. The agent buried inside of poor, unsuspecting Haley Keene is off on an unexpectedly challenging mission. Will she succeed? Will there be more mind control and brainwashing in her future? More news as this story develops!

NickelModelTales brings us back to 1960s Oahu for Thursby Manor, a fun detective story featuring hypnotized women, brainwashing, post-hypnotic triggers, and... did I mention hypnotized women? I think I'd much prefer watching ten seasons of "The Girl Detective" to watching ten of "Hawaii Five-O"  :)

Had  to work this weekend so time has been limited.

321,

Yep, I liked Thrusby Manor too. The plot and characters were just terrific with some really sweet curve balls thrown in. Loved that 50's setting too. Sam Smith was a cracker jack heroine detective and her little unexpected helper was really a fireball. I'm not surprised you like it. I thought you might. I actually was wondering about that as I was reading it.

Oh, and that's one way to quit smoking.

Shadra's terrific Following Her Dream came to an end with all the class, style, plotting and brilliance that it showed all the way through. I am proud to say I was talking about this story right when it came out and it proved to be everything I thought it would be. Am I bragging about that? Yep.

I found the ending very interesting and very unexpected in certain aspects. And I liked it all the more for it. Great job Shadra! You pulled it off from start to finish.

The next chapter of Mordred's sublime Paperback is here to enchant any young reader of comics who has a certain fetish. And once again it hits on all cylinders. Man, if I had found that comic when I was a kid I would have been living in my bedroom for a loooong time. >:D. Door locked of course.

The narrator continues with his amazing life story as he has ups and downs on his way to......

The line of the story: By 2013, it was my organization. CHILLING. And a portent of things to come.

In the comic Mordred does the opposite of chilling and instead turns the temperature up with Stella thinking of how she lusted for young Lindsey from the time they met and then seduced her. Not really what happened, Stella. Followed not long after with, “I’m glad it made you happy....I love you Laura....I belong to you.....body and soul." Then a quick sequel into another diabolical Lindsey induction of Stella. Man, that's three burning fast balls right at the readers head. Not fair Mordred.

But to show us he has no mercy at all, a bit later one veteran agent Stella is whining and begging to her understudy how much she needs her. Just so fucking steamy and so damn good.

Pant....pant...pant....Does it seem hot in this room?

The evil Lindsey is giving Stella a series of ever increasing dark missions to carry out now and Stella is very happy to comply. Does it seem real hot in this room?

Mordred brings the end of this chapter with a very vital revelation from the narrator and a very surprise visitor to Stella and Lindsey that brings a whole new twist to what was an already multi-layered beautifully intelligent story.

Way to leave us hanging Mordred. You know exactly when to break it off.

Excuse me now while I go lock the door.

Thanks, Cerebus.  The Stella story was definitely the elusive prize I spent far too many hours searching for.

I am constantly humbled that the mind behind “Blood Sport” reads my stuff.

Following Her Dream comes to a conclusion in a most satisfying and adventurous way. I've always loved the characters in this story, and here they must grapple with the reality that all of them have changed, at least a little, since the start of the story. What a massive and sprawling adventure spawned by a single girl and her pretty screensaver!

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

eviltwinmordred's Paperback continues to dazzle with two hot narratives going on at the same time. In one, our brainwashed heroine is given some sexy tasks to do, while one of the puppet masters has her own strings pulled! In the other, we learn even more about our mysterious narrator, who has become quite the mind controller himself. I suppose it's good that so much of the mass-media MC we all consumed back in the day ended up being a disappointment; who knows what kind of masterminds we would have become had we found an exciting book like Stella Striker #23?  :)

No, no, it would have been worth it. I'd have killed for a book like that. And besides, the narrator seems like a happy, well-adjusted guy, doesn't he?  ;)

In the Beginning is back with a new chapter, and our smart and plucky heroine learns some new things about herself. I like how the mind control here is ever-present but also quite subtle. Ahn's careful, cautious evaluation of the incredibly wild things taking place is a joy to read. Here's hoping that she gets to show those jerks back at the village a thing or two!

(more to come!)

Thanks, 321.  I always saw Paperback as my high wire act, and the fact one of the great writers here likes it means a lot.  I think we all have that one Hypno book or movie that we could never find.

To add to the word count defense, I will simply say that a large quantity of professional short stories run up to, but not over the 5,000 word mark, including some of the most notable examples of the form by Poe, Hawthorne, Bierce, Twain, De Maupassant and the like.

For my part, though, I think the shortest stories I've written after my teen years have been just over 5,000 words, so I would have a great deal of trouble trying to pare down to, say, a 3,500 word piece much less a 1,500 word story. I guess I'll never be a very good flash fiction writer. Ah, well.

Thanks, Cerebus.  The Stella story was definitely the elusive prize I spent far too many hours searching for.

I am constantly humbled that the mind behind “Blood Sport” reads my stuff.

Mordred,

You found that prize. For us. I think your foray into this particular avenue really brought out the best in you. I was hoping you would go there. I knew what it would bring.

Seems like months since we last saw something new for This Is Our Story.  Hope the author is okay!
Brief blech spell, but presently am doing just fine, thanks. :) This Is Our Story has run its course on the EMCSA for now. Volume 2's for sale, and 3 will be pretty soon (provided no more blech spells). I've got another book I'm planning on slow-releasing soon, so don't despair.

'My Neighbor, Soon to Be Lover'

So an interesting inversion here with a geeky introvert female thirsting for her older male neighbor. Was surprised to read the narrator describe him in all his glory so early on, but I'm guessing he meets her requirements :p

Plenty of things hinted at, plus there's a significant undertone to this (entirely my supposition) I shant mention but I enjoyed it.  Will add though that, given her description and attitude, the narrator has no business sitting alone in her room. Thats going to have to be explained sufficiently. Still, was a whimsical read.

You might want to cast your wrath down on me in that sense. At least a couple of the serials writers have cut back on the number of words they post in a week, due to the fact they know I've suffered several seizures recently, which means my reading speed has slowly down dramatically, so they're trying to help me out by cutting the length of their update each week.In truth, I suffered a couple more yesterday, and was in hospital again overnight, so unlikely to be any reviews up before tomorrow.

I dont if that is the case with many, but I do know of at least a couple, and it is much appreciated

You know I had a whole thing about Ahns family and neighbors.  But there is an outside chance I might visit that theme, I'll only observe that Ahn never refers to anyone she lived with or around by name.  They basically aren't real to her.  And this is totally for well thought out psychological reasons.  NOT because I can't be bothered to come up with proper names.  Not at all.

Gave this a shot as a result of this review. Chapter one was quite enjoyable, the induction and the triggers were especially great, made all the better that they were from the girl's perspective. After that chapter, though, I was a little worried that the story was just going to be "guy uses hypnosis to bang a girl," and nothing more, for three chapters. Happy to say it didn't end out that way.

Overall, fun little tale, with some imaginative scenes. Liked it enough to make me want to check out Thursby Manor, though it helps that a few certain people already gave it praise. =)

Oh no, Merry! Please take care, and I hope you feel better.

I usually write short chapters because I have a full time job, two Patreons, and a girlfriend. I don’t have *time* to write more than a couple thousand words per story per month.

Finally got a chance to read CuyahogaKingKongs In he Beginning.

Just such an unusual and terrific story. Not really like anything I have read on the site and that is rare. The world building is just amazing in breadth and scope and so realistic. You really believe in this time and place and people.

But it gets even better with the hero Ahn. This intelligent girl beset by unfortunate events and circumstance. We get to know her, inside and outside so well and it really is fascinating and at times heartbreaking.

And if your not rooting for Ahn in the strongest possible way you have no heart. She is just all that.

Until I finally get to see a Neurologist next month (health service here is free, but not quick, as original seizures were in March!) I dont really know what it is, but this re-occurrence is an unexpected pain after 2 seizure free months.

For some perspective, here in Wisconsin my wait time for a neuropsychiatrist (different than neurologist, don't ask me how) for an evaluation was 18 months.  After that evaluation (which my new insurance company insisted on, I had already been diagnosed and treated for 10 years) I was unable to be treated effectively for my main ailment, solely because she tagged her report with the wrong code. All doctors involved agreed the tag contradicted the test results and made no sense but their hands were tied.

I can get a second opinion.  In another 12-18 months.  Praise the Invisible Hand of the Market, bringer of efficiency!

Sorry to hear about your troubles though, I'm terrified by the thought that one day I'll have a similarly serious issue.  Sympathy and good wishes from internet randos isn't worth anything but you have mine.

Thanks regardless, hope you eventually get your matter sorted

Finally getting started

Hot Blood: Sexiness and Lust in a Silicon Valley Startup

Fine, this might get boring for a good reason! This is worth it for Bridget, and the poker machine alone, believe me! Well actually, the rest is really good too, but thats beside the point. This frigid old maid wants to play that poker set up, and I dont even gamble! This whole story has been really great, but thats a gem moment
Low end of much enjoyed

In the Beginning

OK, this isnt sexy, but its gorgeously sweet. The whole scene with Ahn, and the mirror, lovely. Seriously, please, would I love this done to me, you bet. If you like sweet, feelgood, this is for you!
Low end of much enjoyed

Incubus

This was very cleverly built, in more senses than one, including the inevitable, err, climax at the finish. Cant say much more without spoilers, but go read.
High end of definitely enjoyed

Losers Can’t Be Choosers

Oh fine, the imagine of Clarissa in a hospital bed was ironic to read yesterday, seeing thats where I spent part of the day. No, I didnt get blue jello though. Nor sadly did I get a catsuit, but fine, I loved that touch, as the author already knows. I do feel sorry for Jonah at the end, but I can see the logic of how it plays out.
Fine, Clarissa in a catsuit, the role I want, got to be low end of much enjoyed after that

Return of the Armored Warrior

Poor Erika, life is never easy as a superheroine lol. I did love the way this all plays out though, and yes, the ending is a neat touch
High end of definitely enjoyed

In truth, all 5 of these could easily have got the higher rating, so I've ended up getting a bit fussy, and picky on that point. But seriously,  a great batch for the old crock to start with this week. More tomorrow, health permitting

Based on some of the reviews above, I went ahead and checked out Thursby Manor. What a fun, enjoyable tale. I just wish I had known about these parties when I was on the island, not that I would have been invited. I do wonder if the author is from or has been to Oahu, or if there was just a lot of careful researching. I'm always impressed by the kind of detail stories like these provide.

Will have to admit, I guessed the ending almost right away after that one twist in chapter 4. Did not diminish my enjoyment, though! All in all, a joy to read. I do have one small issue with the story though:
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

I also took the time to check out Amnesia Service. It was a neat little story, though admittedly I think I walked away from it with a few more questions than I would have liked. The individual scenes were great, and it certainly enforces my fear of answering my door at any point. I do hope there's more to the story, because I'd like to know a bit more about what is actually going on. It's a bit too focused, I guess you could say?

And while I'm here, I've already thrown praise at Fumanchu for it privately, but I'd like to mimic what others have said about Paperback. My only regret about the story is that I was too busy trying to finish my own to have read it earlier. It has a level of cleverness and imagination, and downright creativity, that always astounds me. I'll probably say more once the story is fully released here, but it's definitely worth the read!

I want to check out Caught In A Lie, but ooph, that word count for one update. Maybe if I have time after I check out other stuff, but not likely to finish it all this week.

I still remember when In The Beginning was presented here on the forums for advice, and now that I have read the first two chapters, I rather regret not taking a look back then. While I agree with Merry that nothing really appealed to my tastes for erotic content, the story so far is still wonderfully descriptive and intriguing.

Here's hoping that she gets to show those jerks back at the village a thing or two!

And yes, by the second chapter I was hoping pretty much the same thing. If the villagers aren't made aware of her changes in some way, I might be a little disappointed. Not saying you have to change the story to include that, of course...

I'm not going to spoil anything.  But I will note I'm a big believer in the concept of a story circle.  The final step of which is "return having changed."

Ok circles don't have steps, but you know what I mean.

On Thursby Manor, I echo all the praise.  Although I have issues with the last bit...
Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Rather a glaring oversight, as otherwise this story and the authors other two this week are all great depictions of victims of classic hypno-fetish scenarios figuring out the limits of their captivity and figuring out ways to retake control.

Still very much worth a read, and an interesting take on serial recruitment.

In the Beginning is really really great so far. What a debut! Just outstanding prose and worldbuilding. Your writing flows effortlessly, oozes intelligence and just feels really thoroughly thought out. It's worth the read just for that alone!

I don't get that much out of TF in the heat-department, but it's just as well-written. My personal taste would also like to thank you for not turning Ahn into a grotesque big-lipped tit-monster! I'm looking forward to the hopefully immenent part of the story where the MC hammer drops. If it's as good as it's been so far, I'm certain to enjoy it very much to see Ahn's painfully bright mind being controlled. Keep it up!

It already is!  She's just not really aware yet.  Too caught up in the "OMG where am I OMG I'm so hot now!" of the moment.  I have nothing against plump limps and big tits, but for my tastes most stories with breast expansion take it way past what I find sexy.  But if I have one ironclad rule, it's "there's more than one way for a woman to be beautiful."

It's far from effortless, but I have a tedious manual retail job that leaves my brain free to work on how I want things to progress.  And I make sure to solicit notes and comments from readers around here.  If anyone wants a peek at the next chapter, a draft is up on this board in this thread

Part 2

Paperback

Loving this, just loving this. Love the idea of Stella as a Scandinavian girl, and all that jazz. In truth both the book sections, and the 'author' sections are very good. But fine, when that French Maid costume arrives, I'll be suspicious, but still put it on!
High end of definitely enjoyed

61 Days in River City

As entertaining, and fun as ever. Yes, I love the logic game our 2 heroines are trying to play here, even more so for the misfires. 13 days left to change the world, maybe? Who knows, but it will be a fun ride
High end of definitely enjoyed

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

This Is Just 4 U

Very cleverly done, and fine, I loved how it all ended. Whole story was superbly done, and thought through by 4 U as well. Jukebox gem
High end of definitely enjoyed

Yew and Me

Somehow I think we're in for a few twists yet in here, just a matter of who with. Definitely a chapter building to something big, who knows what, but looking forward to finding out.
High end of definitely enjoyed

I hate when work gets in the way of more important things, like reading mind control porn on the Internet!  :)

Anyway, after a sad interlude spent doing work things, I finally got to read the latest chapter 61 Days in River City. i wonder what it is with heroes and rooftops? Granted, you've got a great view of your surroundings, but they make drones now, and... anyway, what a fantastic and devious turn of events we have here! I suppose it's no real surprise-

It feels like I've read more these past few days than I ever did in all the months I spent writing my story. Perhaps this will give me the inspiration to plug the last few holes in an idea I have, but that's not the purpose of this thread, so let's just jump into it:

First up, I'd like to talk about Level Ten. What a fantastic, short chapter. Quick read, and really set the story going for the next few chapters. Loved the exchanges between brother and sister, though I do have to ask, was there a line that was cut out? Maybe I missed something, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why he asked if Lisa was feeling hungry, and why she was so excited when she realized she wasn't. Even went back a ways, but if the answer is in there, it's eluding me. Regardless, quite enjoyable, and look forward to chapter two!

Lastly for today, we have Why Did Freud Abandon Hypnotism, Anyway? This is the third story by this author this week, which is quite astounding. I wonder how long they took to write all this? If it was done all in one week, color me extremely impressed. The other stories from this week were superb, and this no less so. The MC was hot, the main character was adorable, and that outburst at the end? I could practically hear it in my head! Great writing, definitely recommend anyone to read this.

If you need to borrow Janet's device to show to your boss(es), I'm sure she wouldn't mind.

Loved Why Did Freud etc myself.  Another Nickel story where if the controller had been just a bit less of a douche he would have been so much better off...

Thanks for the kind words, Merry, I won't say anything much - other than this chapter worried me more than a little as nothing seems to happen and coincidentaly I stalled for three or four weeks while I was writing it.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Reality Schism.  On the one hand it's got a lot of things I dislike: a crass main character with tastes for disproportionate body parts, total indifference to the subjects as people, and a way overpowered mechanism of control.  But it's got a neat way of focusing on unforeseen ripple effects and enough self-awareness that I think the unlikability of the controller is intentional, not the result of shallow thinking on the writers part.

Part 3

Alpha Male’s Paradise

Well, lets just say the ending finished it off for me, and not in a good way, but equally, not surprised by it. Had a few amusing moments, but fine, most of it wasnt my scene, but even before 39, I wouldnt have been good looking enough for him, anyway! Those who like all powerful stuff would get more from it than me.
Low end of definitely enjoyed, as a compromise, and thats probably kind, given the ending

Amnesia Service

Can I sign up for this service, pretty please? Bonus, I have less to make them forget too, now! Loved the build here, and the dreadfully corny word plays, sorry, I'm a sucker for them! Good, fun read
High end of definitely enjoyed

The Reality Schism

I know its about stretching reality, but sometimes you can take it too far, and this one does. Chaos at the end leaves it in an interesting spot, mind
High end of enjoyed

Stop Watch

Looks like this is reaching the point where I go yuck, and bail out, in all honesty. Shame really, because the concept is being handled well, but fine, father/daughter incest, no, just no!
Going to go no rating, as I find it impossible to compromise under the circumstances, and thats the easy bail out. Incest fans, you'll continue to enjoy as well written stuff

Probably the last two for this week, but here goes:

Waspish was... interesting. I didn't understand the title until near the end. I applaud the topic, despite the horrific nature of what occurs. Ultimately just didn't really do much for me other than the concept being interesting. Certainly unexpected, to say the least.

And then Revenge Of The Nerd. People that like MC to be quick and all-powerful may like this. There were some moments in the MC that I enjoyed. That aside, with how many characters were in the story, and the brevity of the scenes, it was nigh impossible to get connected to anyone for any kind of emotional payoff. I don't quite understand why Karen did what she did at the beginning, other than as a plot device for later. Despite some enjoyment from some of the scenes, story was mostly a miss from me.

Part 4

The Girl With the Big Tits

Another story with a big gaps, but again, not much back read. You should know the system by now, a new follow up chapter, to an old piece, suitable time gap. Yes, both sides of the story worked pretty well for me, though I dont ever remember working for that company! It is fun, and I wouldnt mind 'acting' any of these roles in truth.
High end of definitely enjoyed

Mother Serena’s Mission

Very cleverly done, and definitely not the standard way of dealing with a demoness, for sure. In truth, apart from the smacking stuff, loved this all the way through. As for the moment Mimi decided to be naughty, I wonder if that was planned, or accidental?
High end of definitely enjoyed

Tendrils in my Mind

Well I'm glad I skimmed this to the end, because it did improve it for my tastes. Cant say too much as a spoiler, but yes, the jerk most definitely doesnt end up as cool as he was most of the story. Still going to have mark down for events before that point, on tastes grounds
Low end of definitely enjoyed

Sorry but you are not allowed to view spoiler contents.

Uplink

Another excellent chapter here, and wonderfully paced events. Would I like to be in Soraya's place, you bet I would! The play between her, and Hera is absolutely delightful before the inevitable happens

You aren't missing anything! I messed up - I changed the justification for the MC from "dieting" to "studying", and despite going through it three times, STILL missed a reference to the old version.

Properly Handled (mc mf ff md fd in) (2 new chapters)  by Extantelan
A brother and sister grow closer over a shared love of mind control and other various kinks and perversions.

As had been the case for the last couple updates, things are moving forward. It's especially remarkable how things flipped between Bobbi and Budda, yet perhaps not at all. Between the lines, well, perspectives, we are slowly coming to understand who these characters are. The apparent trio here certainly seems perfect for each other, but there are apparent barriers they all had to break through, whether that be a mask or understanding what was behind that mask. Or perhaps they twisted each other and themselves to be not quite what any of them expected. We will surely know the full truth soon enough.

Again, thank you for the continued support. I will say I hated breaking my word to you that Bubba would never hurt his sister, but it had to be done to progress the story. Also I have finally started to play around with different PoV's to offer divergent views on how their attraction began (I should say, who was at fault, but no one looks at it that way) if there are differences in their stories, well just attribute it to that.  Again, I appreciate the input.

I got a kick out of it, actually ... in chapter 1 of my Were-Tigress I tease the possibility of something like the titular character in Waspish, and do so again in the chapter that I hope gets released here tomorrow, but I haven't written anything like that character before and hadn't planned to (though hadn't ruled it out). Bravo to the author on that point, at least, as well as the title's cleverness ... a nice brief uncomplicated sensual build-up to

I wish I had more time to read, as there are so many good looking stories here.  Alas, balancing my own writing and everything else ain't the easiest.  Of what I did read though:

Amnesia Service (mc ff) (new)  by HypnoticHarlequin
Beth is surprised when a girl turns up at her door declaring herself to be from an “Amnesia Service”.
Love this idea, though it's such a tease that we never find out what Beth wanted to forget in the first place!  Not sure she planned on how far the "service" has gone, but she sure seems to enjoy it.  I think I would sign up for such a service.  Or perhaps I already have... Hmmm...

Following Her Dream (mc ff) (1 new chapter)  by Shadra
Janet takes the necessary steps towards obtaining her dream girl.
And so Janet rounds out her story in style.  She's come a long long way... This wasn't the dream that she followed in the first place, but I think she ended up with something beyond her wildest imaginations.  I particularly like how she won't let anything or anyone get in the way of her dream now it's firmly in her grasp.  She is now a careful and considerate controller, she knows that making vast changes in someone can lead to choas, so the control is subtle and therefore much more effective.  And what a fun epilogue as well, with a few question marks all around.  Sequel possible? I'd say definitely, but I'm in no rush, as I want to see what Shadra has in store for us next :)

Incubus (mc mf ff md) (1 new chapter)  by Jennifer Kohl
Christina summons a demon, who has the ability to grant her greatest desire.
Omph! Really hot chapter here.  Be careful with those demons... They may be irresistible sex monsters but... well... they're irresistible sex monsters...  Very eager to know what happens next.

Paperback (mc mf ff ft) (1 new chapter)  by eviltwinmordred
An impressionable teenager finds an old mind-control fetish novel in a used book store.

Now this is developing nicely, a balanced helping of heat, development, and intrigue. So many questions to be answered, and what fun to be had along the way.  My one concern is that I worry that it may make people think that us MC enthusiasts are all evil brainwashers waiting to happen.  I mean, the blond I hypnotized last week might have agreed with that if I hadn't programmed such objections out of her, but still!

Waspish (mc mf fd) (new)  by Chrysostomon
A truck driver gets extra attention from the staff when he stays at a Greek motel.

Brought to my attention by Shadra... This one was an interesting enough idea, though poorly executed for me.  The initial scene setting was actually pretty good, but everything felt so rushed and flavorless after that.  There were so many instances where we could slow down and savor the moments, the character's reactions to the increasingly bizarre circumstance thrust upon him.  I imagine the ending is pretty squick for some, be warned, but the content wasn't a problem for me, but it was described in such a dull manner.  I'd just like to see this much more fleshed out.  The foundation is there for a really good story, but for me it would need some expansion.

That's all I managed, but there are others that I wish I had time for.  I'm especially eyeing you up, Thursby Manor and Laser Tag Party....

An extra mention for In the Beginning and Uplink, I have started reading both, and am interested enough to read more - not hitting my buttons fully yet but the writing of each is solid and I feel the bits that will resonate with me most may yet be to come.

And extra extra mention for Writer345 of Yew and Me: this looked like a story I would enjoy.  Alas, upon reading your introduction, I wanted to go and read Yew first, as I wanted to be more familiar with the world I was visiting.  That was great, and I finally started on your story today so am only a tiny bit in, and am intrigued so far.  Will see if I can get caught up for the next installment coming out!

And finally, we get there

Following Her Dream

OK, this ticked all boxes for me. Janet and Rachel, Snow and Violet, and just enough resistance to all 4 together to make it fun. Seriously, all very cleverly done, and lovely the way it played out
By 50 words on the word count, I can do this, low end of much enjoyed

Laser Tag Party

Quote
Finding out who comes out on top sounds like a fun time

No, not a clue who has at this point, but it was great entertainment getting to that point. And yes, I'd love to do that whole blind queen set up, I must say, now that would be fun! Enjoying the play off between the characters, and the way they interact
Mark down for length, obviously, so low end of definitely enjoyed

Thursby Manor

Yes, I know its lengthy, but seriously, if you havent read this yet, go do so, its brilliant. I had heard praise for this, but was definitely as good as expectations.
High end of definitely enjoyed. Yes, I was tempted to give it low end of much enjoyed, and sort of ignore the mark down rule, but I'm good. But yes, an invite to a party (too old, not pretty enough) and I'd give more

Why Did Freud Abandon Hypnotism, Anyway?

In truth, I'm already a big fan of the author, if not the size of the updates  This is brilliantly done, works for the desired era, and has a delightful moral, and sweet ending. Now if I knew that Sally, and Johnny lived happily ever after, well...?
Definitely enjoyed, post length markdown

Thats it for this update, thanks as always to all authors involved, but especially one. The new update review will hopefully have less health issues on my part

You aren't missing anything! I messed up - I changed the justification for the MC from "dieting" to "studying", and despite going through it three times, STILL missed a reference to the old version.

Will fix when the next chapter goes up!

Glad to see the mystery solved!

Bit of a longer response in the dedicated thread, but wanted to mention something here. While I never intentionally wrote it to be under 10k, I do have to say it was weighing on my mind while doing so! Mostly because the chapter was already pretty long, and the epilogue I added was a last minute addition. I had no intention to add that until I was doing a final review of the chapter, and I was so glad that it didn't push the story over!

Thank you to yourself and Carefully Random for the pleasant reviews here!

Hierarchy of Needs (mc mf md in ex) (1 new chapter)  by Pan
Behind a small door in Jacob’s house, there’s four filing cabinets—one for each member of his family.

I enjoyed the mechanism in this, Pan. Quite clever.

Thanks, Blackie! It got in my head and I knew I had to write it.

Very strong installment of "Binding Rings".  Quite excellent.
