The Caretaker (Day Three) - and some Shorts (AI Generated)
« on: July 19, 2026, 09:09:05 pm »
Posted a new short this past Thursday, "Convenience" which is a darker and more-destructive kind of story than my usual. Supernatural... 2 minutes long.

And, just now, "The Caretaker (Day Three)" - the days are getting longer as I try my best to pay off every set up... but this episode pushes the needle a bit. I'm hoping to not pass the 10 minute mark on anything (this one's just over 8). I'd say the best part of videos is that they force me to TRY to be an efficient storyteller... something I've failed at eternally in plain words.

Thank you for watching!

I've made two more shorts.

Gray Coast Coffee Co. (the Consultant) - about Bethany learning about customer service.

and

Cupid's Spark - about boy meets girl... girl meets Cupid's Spark.

GrimTidings...I love your collection.

Thank you - I'm finding fulfillment in producing them.

In almost 30 years of lurking around this community I finally found something that I can share-back to it that doesn't objectively suck.

It's a nice feeling. :)

Your slow burn approach to her brainwashing is very disciplined and very effective.  I really look forward to more.

High praise as your Dorvak series is an inspiration (in a way, Lawn Work is almost directly inspired by concepts present your series). Thank you for the compliment AND for your writing!

Another excellent video, thanks!

Thank you for watching (and commenting)!

I do wish the board had a thumbs-up feature. Emoji responses really allowed people to get the last word but, without them, how do you say thank you without getting the last word?!

Wait...

Loving the Cupid's Spark series so far. It reminds me somewhat of the late and great BulgroztheThird's Adjuster series, which had a frat taking over a college as well. You have me riveted on where it's going and once again I appreciate that the second short is a slow burn that is clearly leading towards diving into an intriguing payoff. Kudos and keep up the great work!

Thank you and, yes, The Adjusters (parts one and two) are, in my mind, THE evil mind control on college campus story because of its depth and breadth. I am NOT going that deep, though. After making the first one, I felt SO BAD for Eric that I wanted to give him an arc. At most we're looking at a third and maybe fourth part. I'm so far removed from college that I don't think I could do a good college story with any continuity.

We will be completely even if you send that barefoot blonde to cut my lawn this weekend!  Seriously, thanks for the nod to my modest efforts, and for the fantastic work you’re doing.

We will be completely even if you send that barefoot blonde to cut my lawn this weekend!  Seriously, thanks for the nod to my modest efforts, and for the fantastic work you’re doing.

I had to give this one some thought (my imagination is currently chewing on Cupid's Spark and the Caretaker Day Four) but I ran an analysis of my ideas for the direction of Lawn Work and found MORE EvilTwinMordred inspiration inside.

Let me preface, first, by saying that all of my videos exist in a canon-tracked "Sullyverse" - an alternate reality where mind control exists in many forms and tech-based control was accidentally discovered in the 1970's by Winston Sully's Sullydyne Corporation. There's also magic control (re: Mochi Doki and Convenience) and "naturals" (re: the Vortex). Lawn Work exists down the "Cole" line of technology-based mind control tech... with Robert Cole, the "antagonist" of Lawn Work, having adapted his uncle's designs and notes into an app he can infect phones with (thank you touch-to-transfer tech!)

Where this rolls into how your stories are somehow, subconsciously an inspiration for the video (note: I can still refer to your stories as "the Dorvak stories" when I chat with my wife about stuff - and she remembers them which is noteworthy!) is that the arc for Mr. Cole's domain is going to experience a Norma-esque divergence. I didn't make the connection until I started thinking, "Yeah, I COULD send her to Mordred Lane... how can I fit that into the episode?" Anyhow, it's in my notes but time is limited and I struggle to produce timely content - but I absolutely adore your stories... and so does my imagination.

And Cupid's Spark is almost done. "Release Protocol", episode 4 is published and I'll have the Epilogue, a.k.a. episode 5, out probably towards the middle of the week. And that'll be the end of that arc.

Caretaker took a back seat. Apparently, I can't work on multiple stories at once... single-minded. Hopefully I won't run into another short idea that I fall in love with and I'll be able to continue Iris's journey next weekend.

Thanks again for watching!
