OK, here's where you guys can make your comments. Smiley

There will be six total preludes, comprising six of eleven contestants. (Sorry, I can't do all 11 in any kind of timespan. I'm just not that good.)  Then I'll post the prologue where all eleven meet, then put up the voting section where you can choose which characters get booted...and let the games begin! Smiley

I'll be really interested to see which characters people like. Check back Saturday night for prelude two: Sonia.

I had envisioned a game where the contestants would be MCers going after each other, but it appears the producers are looking for subjects exclusively.  Hmm... I do want to see where this goes.

It's going to be an interesting evening in TV Land when David tunes in to find his ex on the box...

Not an actual contest - it is a story that Dreamfire is writing, based on a reality show premise. As time goes on we will be voting off "contestants."

Hmm,

I just hope that each of contestants voted off goes on to interesting fate rather than simply returning to their usual life.

That would make or break it for me.

Really nice stuff, Dreamfire, truly.  If you are still taking input, as opposed to knowing exactly what is going to happen to everyone, knowing what you're going to do as they are voted off your "show", then I would request that you don't leave any of them worse off then when they started.  I know that won't be easy, as leaving them broken and lost is so much easier to do, and sometimes, for lots of the readers here, so much hotter.

But that's my thought on it, and I just wanted to stay.

You're doing something very ambitious and interesting here, Dreamfire, and I wish you all the very best in pulling it off in the way that you have it laid out in your mind and heart.

Great job. So far I really care about these characters. I am not going to ask you to not harm them though, that's up to you. As much as I care for them you have to follow your vision on this.

One minor typo distracted me 24 or 25 paragraphs down - first line: Sonia shivered at the thought of ever being able to do the cat dance again. (I imagine that you meant that to be never.)

Annnnd a toothache and the attendant pain meds kicked my ass last night. Sorry  Cry It's really hard to write like that. I have about 3/4 of the next prelude done, and today I'm sticking to ibuprofin. I think I can get two done and posted by tonight. Sorry about the delay!

Dreamfire -

Well, wow... The prelude to Galerina, your fourth "contestant" is about as good as it gets, irrespective that this is just introduction and set-up.  You write that as if she is almost you, or you are almost her.  It has the ring of truth, and of true online life that I'm not sure I've ever felt before, though there are many MC stories out there about people being online.

If you don't write anything else for this whole story/project, your last prelude has made it worth reading for me.  Congratulations and thank you (and a big, sneaky hug).

 Grin!

A suggestion:  Perhaps you might like to post some of these preludes at the EMCSA sooner (rather than later), with a footnoted invitation to head over here and join in the composing, or the voting. . . .

This is fantastic stuff--all four character portraits so far.  I can't wait until things really get going!

I thought about that too, Mike.  The problem with doing that is that there's no way I can get two more preludes and the prologue done by Friday with this medicine thing going. I could get two more preludes done, but I'm not sure there's enough sex and/or MC going on *in the preludes* to keep Simon from rejecting them. It'd be until probably the 12/12 update before I could get the polls going if I posted to the EMCSA. Dunno if you folks are willing to wait that long for additional voters that may/may not show up.

Besides, to be honest, I still fall in the E=MC category right along with trilby. If I post to the EMCSA, I feel compelled to have a ***SEX SCENE*** (caps intentional) instead of seeing what flows naturally from the characters. While there may be plenty of sex in a given chapter, there may not... and I don't want to lock myself in.

I dunno. My jaw hurts and the ibuprofin hasn't kicked in yet, so I'm not in the best frame of mind to think. Maybe later today. Wink

I really don't know how to express my excitement for this to continue. I'm looking foreword to being part of the voting. Being able to vote people off is a great idea. I really Didn't watch any reallity shows on TV. But this really has my intrest. Alot of the reason why is the great Job your doing. So keep up the good work and take care of yourself. Keep the Ibruprofin on hand.

There are a few stories I'd like to see on screen.  Contest Weekend (artie) would make an awesome student film, Business Class (Wiseguy) a cool miniseries, there's enough Pleasure Cruise (various) for a half season of TV episodes, Sub Routine (Tabico)... heck, the world can use more cyberpunk-y movies, and who knows, Sub Routine is such a great read that a screenwriter might not screw it up, like some movies I can think of.  (Insert rant about Johnny Mnemonic here, with lamentation that The Winter Market would have been a far better short story to base a movie off)

I'm imagining The Audience prologues as a bonus included in The Audience DVD Box Set.  Which is funny, imagining extras for a show/story you haven't watched/read yet.  It just clicked, as I was reading the latest part (Marlene).  I imagine that segment starting up, with an understated opening sequence.  Black screen.  White text fades in, as the sound of an audience's applause is faded in as well.

THE AUDIENCE
Prologues

Marlene

Screen brightens to white, applause sound drops away, and the brightness fades to Marlene sitting in her cubicle, listening as the other OL's chat.

Reading back, I imagine all of the prologue parts being presented this way.

I hope the fact that you're still turning these out regularly is a sign, Dreamfire, that you're feeling better...

Bleh. I hate getting sidetracked, meant to do this yesterday.

Great work so far, Dreamfire. Solid stuff, as usual for you. I'm still a huge fan of your posted stories at the EMCSA and I'll be sticking with this one through every last word till you wring it out for all it's worth.

Fantastic character development, believable situations, just a touch of mystery, and of course my primary focus: the hypnosis.

Keep it up, please.

Well, since Simon has said the next update for the EMCSA will  be 12/11, I might be able to take your suggestion after all, Mike. Maybe I can fit in a few more preludes, too! The sixth prelude is about halfway done. Last night was gaming night, so I spent undrugged time playing D&D. Wink I was going to try to finish it and get the prologue done this weekend, but maybe I'll do a couple more preludes (say, two more) and then spend the rest of the week on that prologue.

To EVERYONE who has commented... thank you so much for your kind words. Smiley Especially on the Galerina and Marlene preludes... I wasn't sure on their quality, since they were written when I was not at my best! You reassured me immensely. I can't wait to throw all these characters (and more!) into my situation together. Wink
