PLEASE NOTE: If you are an author submitting stories to the EMCSA, please make sure you understand my story length policy at https://www.mcstories.com/FAQ.html

This week, I rejected six submissions because they were too short, which I think is some kind of record.

I wish more authors would combine their chapters into one.  Why have a story with chapters under 2000 words?

Okay, so the initial submission must be two thousand words or more, even if this means submitting several chapters at once. But does the 2k-words requirement also apply to updates?

Yes. Why wouldn’t it?

It feels a lot longer when you are writing it.

I actually try to write stories that are that short.  Like I will want to write a 1000 word short as a "warm up" for bigger story projects.  Sadly I always overshoot that, often by a significant amount.  I think one of my attempts ended in a 10,000 word story.

Glad I'm not the only one. :)
One of my current stories was supposed to be a prologue showing how nervous the protagonist was on the journey to Academia. It's ended up a 3-day road trip, with the first day 55k and the second 17k so far. Similarly, the story I started on for this month's arena event has got to 13k without touching on EMC.

Getting started

Betsy Visits River City

Sometime later today, I will stop laughing at the chaotic events at the end of this chapter. I'm sure Betsy will survive her journey into the woods. Fine, I have to mark down too, for the death here (I know I will get flak from Betsy for this), as I suspect that is beyond Joystick's abilities, all the same. Not that Fundamental would approve of that anyway, but... ::) Otherwise, as entertaining as ever.
Fine, I'll annoy her, high end of definitely enjoyed, because that last scene was a comedy gem! :P

Goldgirl in Trancetown

Thankfully I dont think anyone in their senses would want to turn me into a stripper, but otherwise... Picked up in the second half here, and I'm hoping we get to see what happens next, I must say. Entertaining super heroine 'in too deep' piece.
High end of definitely enjoyed

The Hash

Oh to be in Jen's shoes there, I must say. Got to say that would be a fun part to 'play', I must say. Loving the play between her, and Eric, has to be said. I wonder what other adventures Jen has set for her in this book?
High end of definitely enjoyed

Perfect for One Another

Fun short Rom-MC piece, even if I suspect not all plans by either were strictly of the sweet, romantic kind? As for what will happen by the end of the night, given the author's preferences, I suspect Sam might prefer submitting, to controlling! Definitely fun, and cute
High end of definitely enjoyed

Stop Watch

Oh fine, events at the end of this. I guessed it was coming, but OK... ::) Rest of it was pretty enjoyable up until then, especially in the events leading up to the end.
I'll be kind, definitely enjoyed. Those who dont mind the building incest scenario would give it high end

Clubbing by William Lee is a brilliant little piece. Look, if you're not one to enjoy MM, I get it, but I tell you that you will enjoy this one for other reasons. If you enjoy mass conversions, the sheer eroticism of a person who can control people with their eyes, a little vampirism, or even just club scenarios you will enjoy this. There's even nanites for those who like sci-fi ideas! A little for everyone.

I read it in a very different frame of mind, so it didn't make me super hot, but I found it just oozing with the sort of erotism I've somehow not experienced enough of.

Mind... I personally am not fond of fluid ingestion. Sounds a bit... unhygienic.

Part 2

Bimbo-Midas

Oh fine, I like the stories where the hard done by guy gets something to help him out. Oh, and helps his girlfriend is a jerk too! Certainly looking forward to seeing more of this.
High end of definitely enjoyed

Blizzard

And talking of feelgood stories, here's another one. So we get to learn something about Fay here, on top of everything else as well. I'm assuming her surname isnt Wray, lol? No, I dont want any of the girls to get pregnant, but besides all that...Again, looking forward to seeing much more.
High end of definitely enjoyed

Living Dead Girl

Another interesting addition to the River City Stories here. Gwen sounds quite a character, and events here so far are a nice build to something more, looking forward to finding out what.
High end of definitely enjoyed

Perfect Gift

I'll stick to shopping online, lol, in this case. Thats not to say I wouldnt enjoy being bitten by a vampire, maybe, but anyway...? I wonder what her girlfriend thought, when she finally got home?
Definitely enjoyed

The Signal

Not a lot here for me in truth. Incest, and the humiliation aspect of the dog stuff, and the arrest just left me cold. I'm sure there will be fans for this author, more into this sort of thing, but I probably wont be bothering with this author again, after 2 complete misses.
No rating, taste issues

To celebrate being all caught up, here's my thoughts on what I've read this week (disclaimer: I haven't taken notes as I went, so the stories near the top of the list will be fresher in my mind).

Accidental Hypnosis Turn Good (mc mf md in) (new)  by armored.dragon132
Eric takes the opportunity to enslave his mom when she falls into a trance.

It's never a good sign when the title is badly written. I mean, I've read worse, and from authors who've been around long enough to know better, and I've seen authors improve a lot with practice, so, for a first effort, it's passable. If you're looking for a story where a controlling mother gets accidentally hypnotised and her horny teenage son takes full advantage, this does fit that outline. To its credit, the hypnosis is not immediately absolute control - at least initially, the mother does things like wake up and protest when things go too far too quickly, and suggestions fade overnight - but the trigger is always effective, so resistance or backsliding only lasts a short time. Definite room for improvement.

Alterations: Bryan’s Dance (mc mf) (new)  by Scalar Seventh
Bryan reluctantly takes a friend to a very peculiar quasi-legal club.

The first solo story from this author, and sharing the same universe as last week's collaborative Alterations: Kathryn's Confidence. I liked the characters, setting and premise, and would be interested in a direct continuation/sequel as well as others in the setting.

The Bank (Roboman127) (mc ff rb) (3 new chapters)  by Roboman127
Robberies, kidnappings and Assassinations are being done by strange shiny black PVC women.  Two women going to the bank have their lives changed forever.

This author has a lot of repetition and reuse of names, events, backstories, characters, and other details between their various stories, and I've resorted to skimming waiting for something to grab my attention. At some point, I'll probably give up entirely.

Betsy Visits River City (mc mf ff mm md fd ds bd gr be rb ts sc cb hu) (1 new chapter)  by Betsy Leohtar
Betsy finds herself in River City and is shocked to discover it’s infested with super heroes who will try to stop her doing her own lawful work.

This story continues to be crazy, but in interesting ways.

Bimbo-Midas (mc mf ff md gr) (new)  by Doctor MC, Mad Scientist
A leprechaun gives Jimmy a ring that turns any woman whom Jimmy touches into a bimbo.

I'm not a fan of traditional bimbos, but, while the setup for this doesn't lay down the exact rules, and this installment is too early in the story to spell out the effect that way either, the actual "wish" only specifies hot, horny, and jealousy-free, not dumb, so my main objection may not apply. Either way, I look forward to reading about how Jimmy discovers what's happened to him, and finding out how he copes.

Blizzard (mc mf ff) (1 new chapter)  by Redsliver
When Gene treats a strange visitor to better hospitality than she thinks she’s worth, she overcompensates him with three beautiful co-ed princesses. Auditors have been notified of the discrepancy.

I've been enjoying this one a lot too, though I have a feeling more drama is on the way, even without the new time limit.

Editing Reality Book One: Naughty Fantasies Created (mc mf gr in ts) (1 new chapter)  by mypenname3000
Steve gets a phone app that lets him edit other people.

This one continues to hold my interest, though I'm not entirely sold on the number of viewpoint characters and the amount of replaying the same events from different perspectives that's going on. Some of it helps the story, but I'm not sure how much is too much here.

Gabby the Gray (mc ff mf) (3 new chapters)  by SoVeryFascinated
At nineteen years old, Queen Gabrielle de Vess fears she is too young to assume her mother’s crown. But a chance encounter with a mysterious hypnotist will change her perceptions forever.

A story I'm almost sorry to see end, particularly considering that certain characters have a possible fate hinted at late on, but never actually explored.

The Goddess, the Stars, and Ice Cream (mc ff) (new)  by Trixie Adara
Sandra’s new VR headset has a strange effect on Masy.

I don't know if there will be a part 2 of this - it stands alone well enough - but I'd like to see Sandra's reaction to Masy's experience.

Goldgirl in Trancetown (mc mf md cb) (new)  by Witchman
A superheroine tries to intervene when she spies a stripper being hypnotized against her will.

This one, I could take or leave a continuation - I'd read it (and expect to enjoy it) but I don't want it the same way as the previous story.

The Hash (mc ma md ds ex) (1 new chapter)  by Angel Raymond
Jen likes to explore, using the chaos of a hash function to visit random places. But this game becomes more interesting than just mathematics when it leads her to meet a mysterious hypnotist on a small island.

I'm enjoying this. And it's always nice to see a hypnotist being more of a nice guy than they need to.

Her Mother’s Daughter (mc ff in) (new)  by Writer345
A mother seeks help dealing with an abusive daughter.

Another setup for a new story. The scenario has caught my interest, and I'm looking forward to the continuation.

In A Dark Place (mc ff cb) (1 new chapter)  by Madam Kistulot
Midnight’s goals are accomplished as Miss Blake’s empire crumbles around her. As the shadow weaving heroine takes the chance to relax, a new threat may be looming on the edges of her awareness. This one may have no escape...

The pieces are in place to allow a happy ending for this one, but they're also there for it to go to a very dark place, either on the way, or permanently. Still early days for this one, and I'm waiting to see which way it ends up going. And in the back of my mind, there's the knowledge that this is all taking place in the dark timeline that spawned the Domina Argenti, so I can't help hoping that, somewhere down the line, either these characters, or their prime-timeline equivalents, get their happy endings.

It Rings for Thee (mc ff) (1 new chapter)  by Doctor D.
Things are tedious but predictable in the thriving city-state of Saltpotter. Until a couple of visitors come looking for something they’ve lost, something Saltpotter might have. And if not? They can replace it.

The one major problem with writing from a victim's POV is that it gets hard to follow what's actually happening. Being in a non-traditional setting, with only background world-building, and exposition coming from unreliable sources, it gets even harder. Reading this whole story in one go, it probably wouldn't be a problem. Reading with several weeks' break between installments, with many other stories in between, doesn't do it any favours either. And, as a personal peeve, calling a forest the "Wodd" keeps making my brain flag it as a typo, which also doesn't help matters.

All that said, there's enough depth to the world, characters and story that I want to keep following this one - it's just a shame the format and delivery work against it.

Living Dead Girl (mc ff cb hu) (new)  by J. Darksong
River City is home to a number of unusual residents, all with strange and unique powers and abilities. Now everyone is a hero or villain, however. Some just wish to be left alone to live their lives. But when Gwen crosses paths with two of the city’s young heroines, it seems that she’ll be drawn off the sidelines and into the adventure, whether she wants to or not.

A good start from a reliable author. Looking forward to more.

Mad Monday (mc mf in) (2 new chapters)  by Pan
After swapping bodies with their teenage daughter, Andrew’s wife finds it hard to handle the hormones.

This one feels like it's starting to drag a bit (at least in serialised form) - I wouldn't mind getting to the end a bit faster.

Marital Strain (mc mf gr) (1 new chapter)  by Limerick
Amanda and Joseph’s new marriage comes under pressure when they move to a new town.

I'm not a fan of the whole Calving Signs version of Stepford, so while this story has its moments, the basic premise is a miss for me.

Night Time Nudging (mc mf md in) (1 new chapter)  by MindSpark
When a brother learns that his sister uses ASMR to sleep at night, an idea sparks in his head. What if he replaced the audio-files his sister listens to with hypnotic recordings?

I do like this general premise though, and I'm continuing to enjoy this story.

Passengers (mc ff ft) (new)  by blackbladder1
Two passengers are entranced by the driver’s smoke on a long cab ride.

Smoking and effortless serial conversion are another miss for me.

Perfect for One Another (mc) (new)  by S. B.
After many months getting to know each other online, Sam and Annabelle finally decide to meet but he has something else in mind...

I have to agree, it does seem like they are exactly what the title says. While exploring the relationship dynamic further in a continuation could be interesting, considering the author's usual taste, I may be better quitting while I'm ahead rather than wishing for more.

Perfect Gift (mc ff) (new)  by whatlookslike
While shopping for a Valentine’s Day present for her girlfriend, Holly walks right into the clutches of a vampire who has her own idea of what the perfect gift might be.

Another standalone where a follow-up could be interesting but is not needed. I may need to start keeping an eye on this author after this and Rare Encounter last month.

Positive Outcomes (mc mf md gr cb) (new)  by TheHandsThatLead
At Positive Outcomes, a company dedicated to client satisfaction, the staff work relentlessly to fulfill each and every request they get.

I much preferred the recent Three Crates from the same author. This one gets a little too stuck on telling us about the process and the (cunningly disguised) comic book characters affected and ends up less engaging as a result.

The Signal (mc mf ff mc md in bd ds ex ft) (new)  by Raptor4d4
One day it happened. “The Signal” everyone calls it. A mysterious figure appeared on every TV and computer screen, followed by a brilliant display of lights and sound. After that...nothing. Ask anyone and they’ll swear up and down that the world is just as it has always been. Not a single thing changed. Not...one...thing...

The synopsis has the best aspect of this story - the new world itself isn't one that interests me, but the business-as-usual air, despite the events described being unusual by our standards, puts a new twist on it.

Spellthief Stolen (mc mf ff md fd) (1 new chapter)  by Meleva and Scalar Seventh
All she has to do is cross a garden, climb a tower, steal some spells, and get out. Just another job. Nothing simpler.

I'm in two minds about this one. On the one hand, the ethical debates are genuinely interesting; on the other, attempts to claim the moral high ground are a lot more convincing when you aren't systematically breaking your given word. Since it looks like the arcanist is inevitably going to win (based on the setup, he would have been the favourite even if he wasn't cheating with both hands), it would be nice if he were someone I could root for. As it is, I'm not sure I want either to win...

Stop Watch (mc mf md in ts) (1 new chapter)  by Sidia
A power that is too good to be true becomes a corrupting influence on a man and leads him into temptations he’d never thought possible.

Still enjoying this one.

Study Buddy (mc mf md in) (1 new chapter)  by Pan
A son claims that hypnotizing his Mom will help him to study better.

Another story about exploring how hypnosis (or at least the fictional version of it) works, and how to leverage that to achieve the inevitable goal. Unsurprisingly, considering the author, this is going well, and I'm looking forward to the rest of it as it comes along.

Subroutine (Kallie) (mc ff) (1 new chapter)  by Kallie
Lori, a college student, discovers she has a hypnotic trigger that turns her into a mindless, obedient drone. How? Why? And what’s going to happen when her roommate finds out?

Very much enjoying this one.

Taming Tess (mc mf md in) (1 new chapter)  by MindSpark
A father using hypnosis to treat his daughter’s bad behavior slowly succumbs to temptation.

This is another one that may be losing some momentum as it lines up for the finish - it's shifting emphasis away from changing Tess, and more toward using her, and my interest is flagging as a result.

This Is Our Story (mc mf md) (1 new chapter)  by Ice Bear
Connor, the editor-in-chief of the high school yearbook, discovers that edits he makes to the yearbook come true in real life.

It's still early days for this story, but the premise has promise, and I await further developments.

Time Manipulation Mind Control (mc mf md ts in) (2 new chapters)  by mypenname3000
A young college student discovers he has the ability to stop time and implant suggestions.

I've enjoyed this one so far, and it feels like it may be drawing to a close, barring any new revelations being added in.

Without A Sound (mc ff) (new)  by HypnoticHarlequin
While working in a coffee shop Beth meets a strange and silent girl who dresses like a mime. Could a mutual love of silence help them both find something more?

   ;)

Oh fine, I like the stories where the hard done by guy gets something to help him out. Oh, and helps his girlfriend is a jerk too! Certainly looking forward to seeing more of this.
High end of definitely enjoyed

I'm glad you liked the story, Merry. Three more chapters are coming next week.
700 or so words each, so Simon has to count?  ;)

You laugh, but Chapters 4 and 5 are only about a thousand words total, so I had to bring in blabby Chapter 6 in order to meet the minimum.

The Signal

Not a lot here for me in truth. Incest, and the humiliation aspect of the dog stuff, and the arrest just left me cold. I'm sure there will be fans for this author, more into this sort of thing, but I probably wont be bothering with this author again, after 2 complete misses.

Based on other stories I've read on this site, I'm not alone with a taste for these sorts of stories.  If you didn't like these two then you probably won't like the next few I have in my roster.  They are all different in their own ways but have some similar themes.  Those of you who do like this stuff, I hope you enjoy it.

I'm glad to hear that you're giving my story a chance. Do women touched by Jimmy get stupider as they get hotter? "Yes and no," I answer cryptically.

Thanks for reading so far, grey_shadow! The characters have a long way to go with each other, as do the discussions they have, so both sides will have some changes by the end of it. And to be fair to the arcanist, he's never technically given her his word...

Thanks, I'm very proud of it. Even though you feel it coming, I hope you like the drama on the way.

I actually posted this story on Archive of Our Own a few months before posting it here.  As of this post it has over 13,000 views and 132 kudos.  Definitely is an audience out there.  Wasn't sure if that audience extended to here.

Her Mother’s Daughter (mc ff in) (new)  by Writer345
A mother seeks help dealing with an abusive daughter.

> Interesting enough setting. I haven't read all too much of UK socialites and its really refreshing to see the portrayal here. I think it has promise but there is an overabundance of colons here that aren't all correctly used. It takes me a bit out of the flow of it.

Mad Monday (mc mf in) (2 new chapters)  by Pan
After swapping bodies with their teenage daughter, Andrew’s wife finds it hard to handle the hormones.

> It's good seeing Mad Monday and the effect teen hormones has on a sexually experienced woman. It has solid moral degeneration elements on both the husband/wife. It also feels fairly refreshing seeing such a reluctance to it all.

Taming Tess (mc mf md in) (1 new chapter)  by MindSpark
A father using hypnosis to treat his daughter’s bad behavior slowly succumbs to temptation.

> Definitely enjoying the... hmmm... 'consumption of the prize.' I'm really liking the darker tones from the MC and it's fairly satisfying seeing his goals come to fruition. That said... is it done? It feels like it's done. I can't exactly tell but the last few lines of it feels like a "this is everything I ever wanted" feel. The lack of a 'the end' or clearer ending is leaving me in this weird state. Is it not done? Are there more? I honestly have no idea.

This Is Our Story (mc mf md) (1 new chapter)  by Ice Bear
Connor, the editor-in-chief of the high school yearbook, discovers that edits he makes to the yearbook come true in real life.

> Enjoying this and it has a strong premise. I wanna see how he'll be using this more, but the MC seems too... overall friendly for this all to go in an interesting direction. The two foreshadowing elements of the antagonist dude and the teacher might end up somewhere... But I feel anything antagonist dude said kinda got waved off cause Conner was getting his dick sucked, and the main pathway for the MC to change into someone that changes other people is through the teacher cornering him. That said, it's Ice Bear. Sooomething wild this way comes.

Thanks for pointing this out, I'll take more care in future stories, though please remember that UK and US English are quite different in many respects - I often find stories in US English difficult to read because of the spelling!

College Undercover -- same great stuff as before.  Solid writing and I'm really getting a kick out of the inner dialogue and how our heroine seems to be losing her way.... or finding her way.  :D

Gabby the Grey -- a good ending to a good story.  I'd rank it as "low end of enjoyable" because the MC wasn't very important to the tale and the romance/sex was rather unnecessary in the overall sense.  I kept waiting for bad things to happen, but the only really bad things were pretty tame when you consider we're talking about a queen running an entire nation.  No non-con sex.  No hidden triggers.  No embarrassing proclivities popping up out of thin air.  A good read, especially now that it's finished and you can breeze through from beginning to end, and I'd recommend it to anyone that likes period pieces.

Editing Reality -- a long read due to repeating the same scene through the eyes of the various characters.  Fun, juvenile, nonsensical.... and I really love the unintended consequences.  Making it so he couldn't change someone more than once was a really devious notion!  The only problem is the constant sex and flip-flopping through the different POV's, which doubles the sex scenes without really adding anything to the arc of the story.

Stop Watch -- delightful.  Sticking with the single person POV makes for a very clean read, but it does leave the other characters rather two dimensional and hard to relate to.  I have no idea if the protagonist's corruption is simply the normal outcome of a human gaining that kind of power, or something inherent in the watch/power itself.  Maybe a little of both?  Either way, it's cranks up the heat.  Will we ever find out what's behind all this?  Will everything be okay?  Can the changes be undone?  Will things go too far?  I love the unintended bits, the oopses, that are sure to cause a lot more problems as the story unfolds.

This is Our Story -- very intriguing, especially now that he can't switch the two girls back.  What's going to happen next?  Will the editing program allow changes via text, or is it just a personality swap?  Excellent dialogue writing, imo, and the characters are really well done.  I'm hooked and hope it continues at this level.

Part 3

Accidental Hypnosis Turn Good

As the title would suggest, the whole story could do with a major grammar edit. There are a few words that are wrong (see above), but most of it relates to crazy use of personal pronouns, and the like. The story is pretty standard incest stuff, and the 2 main players are not likeable characters. So yes, all pretty much a miss for me. An edit, and incest fans might get something out of it, but otherwise...
No rating, taste and readability issues for me

Her Mother’s Daughter

Ah, more incest. ::) Thankfully in this case, I feel for the mother, dislike the daughter, and ff incest just doesnt squick me quite as much as mf, dont ask me why? Some good side characters here, and I could see Maud appealing to me, but anyway... Certainly looking forward to seeing more
High end of definitely enjoyed

This Is Our Story

Oh fine, I'm glad that one piece of planning went astray! I like the idea of reward for both, so could have done without the 'slut' stuff, but other than that... Fine, as the plain, butch looking old lady, I think she deserves the good looks!
High end of definitely enjoyed

Without A Sound

Something a little different, for sure. There are times I could do with being in that mute bubble, believe me! I did enjoy the way it all played out, and some amusing mind control moments too
Definitely enjoyed

Bimbo-Midas (mc mf ff md gr) (new)  by Doctor MC, Mad Scientist
A leprechaun gives Jimmy a ring that turns any woman whom Jimmy touches into a bimbo.

The Irish seem to have a big sense of humor, so I'm sure any reading this would not be a problem for them. Besides, us MC readers know what we're getting into! :P Anyway, the writing style felt a bit stilted to me, but it was both consistent and engrossing once I was used to it. I do wonder if the leprechaun was testing Jimmy with the gold in the first chap. I mean, a big plot hole in leprechaun stories is how they always claim to be obsessed with their gold, but always seem to be loosing it to the greedy human. At the same time, Jimmy being honest with the gold he found -- giving it back right away -- honestly (ironically?) led to a path we never get to see in these stories. I may not have liked Jimmy that much -- kinda a shallow guy with women, but he was genuinely honest and honorable. Maybe it was more than he deserved, but Jimmy deserved something for the honor he displayed. This was genuinely fun. It was reminiscent of the tongue-in-cheek (and everywhere else) plots in Golden Age porn, where those involved seemed to just be having fun in all the absurdity. I'll keep an eye out for more!

I'm wondering how my writing style is "stilted"—could you explain this, please?

Once I was reading a book that had summaries of children's stories from all over the world, and I noticed a common pair of tropes in these stories, which amazed me because many of the children's stories had to be independently created (meaning, no borrowing)—

1) A bad man does something bad to a "helpless" person because the bad man thinks he can get away with it; the "helpless" person is a powerful magic being, and the bad man is nastily punished. 2) A good man does something good to a "helpless" person just because it's the right thing to do; the good man expects no reward, but the "helpless" person is a powerful magic being, and the good man is magically rewarded.

I've used the "virtue is magically rewarded" trope in several of my stories—most notably Names Have Power and Three More Wishes—and I used it here in "Bimbo-Midas" too.

Three more chapters will be up next week.

"Stilted" was probably an overly aggressive description. I'm used to sort of a slower style in some ways, with often longer paragraphs. Lovecraft and sci-fi fantasy generally has that slower feel. Yours were short and quick, pacing things very quickly. Nothing wrong with how your story was written. I wouldn't be the first to say that Lovecraft and other sci-fi fantasy authors can get overly ponderous!  The faster pacing really was perfect for your story. :)

The tropes used in children's stories go back further than you might think - ancient Greek heroes were tested by Gods appearing as normal people with problems and then rewarded for aiding them, and those probably weren't the first appearances of that idea.

The ancient world traded widely, with trade goods turning up vast distances from their point of origin, and stories are even more portable than spices - and the half-millennium since the Age of Discovery has offered plenty of time for stories to spread, be adapted into local idiom, and seamlessly integrated into the verbal tradition even if their tropes hadn't spread before that.

It is, of course, also possible that the same tropes evolved independently in multiple places, from a common purpose of encouraging certain types of behaviour - rewarding virtue and punishing malice are generally pro-survival on the group level, if disadvantageous to individuals. I'm not saying that all versions of a given trope worldwide definitely borrow from a single common ur-version - just that you would need an unusual degree of isolation over thousands of years to prevent it being a possibility in any given instance.

Part 3

Ah, more incest. ::) Thankfully in this case, I feel for the mother, dislike the daughter, and ff incest just doesnt squick me quite as much as mf, dont ask me why? Some good side characters here, and I could see Maud appealing to me, but anyway... Certainly looking forward to seeing more
High end of definitely enjoyed

Thanks for the kind word, Merry...  As for the characters?  Well I firmly believe that they are what a story is all about.

Agreed, but there are a few writers unfortunately who dont seem to care in the slightest!

Final 4

Alterations: Bryan’s Dance

Havent been to a club in over a decade, but I could easily be tempted into this one. Who me, of course I'd wear a headset! Story is delightfully done, lots of sweetness, some great mind control scenes too. I just wondered if there was a silver light on that menu?
High end of definitely enjoyed

Gabby the Gray

Fine, loved the ending, but it was a brilliant way of getting there. Justice generally done, and no, I have no qualms about baddies dying that deserve it, like those 3 did! And fine, I loved who got to deal with them too.
High end of definitely enjoyed

(Yes, both are marked down, even if it might not look it! )

Positive Outcomes

Oh fine, this was entertaining too. So who wants to pay for me to be improved, lol? Alright, I smiled at a Carla sneaking in there too. Some clever changes, great story
High end of definitely enjoyed

Subroutine (Kallie)

Someone please tell me where I need to go to get this latex drone treatment, please! Loving the play between Lori, and Harper too. I hope we can wait a while to find out who done this, and why, and I'm not sure that Lori doesnt actually feel the same way too?
High end of definitely enjoyed

Thats it for this week, thanks as always to all authors this week, reviewed, or not

Merry, you give a lot of your time to this forum in the form of your regular, inclusive, weekly reviews and you manage to include most stories in them. I would never give you flak for saying something negative about mine. I do value your efforts as well as you personally. Thank you for this review, especially for saying you laughed at it. That's the whole point as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you for reading grey shadow. I'm glad you find it crazy. I had a lot of fun writing it.

The Goddess, the Stars, and Ice Cream (mc ff) (new)  by Trixie Adara
Sandra’s new VR headset has a strange effect on Masy.

The theme of using a VR headset, which I think is awesome, is not necessarily new for mind control stories. I'm sure even the 80s film Brainstorm with Christopher Walken was not even the first, albeit without eroticism. Of course, typing "VR headset MC porn" just leads, well, to underwhelming VR porn. There is certainly irony in that. Anyway, why can't VR be like this? You know, actually immersive! This was pretty fun from the start. At least I found myself visualizing the "real" world in tandem with the described "VR" world. Well, a glimpse of Sandra at one moment certainly helped! The best part was Masy's reaction at the end. This is what we should be finding when looking for VR MC.

I've been out of sorts lately, but before I get -too- far behind in my readings, I figured that I should try to do some catching up.

Betsy's Betsy Visits River City makes that catching up easy to do. Another fun chapter that crammed a zillion pages of action into only 2000 words! Glad to see that the bimbos are still around, I've grown rather fond of them.

Meanwhile, Gene's finally found a way to keep warm in his terribly drafty and rattly apartment in Blizzard. Three extra warm bodies really does chase the cold away, doesn't it? :-)  At least now we know why the weather has been so awful! Can't wait to see where this goes next.

SoVeryFascinated's Gabby the Gray wrapped up this week and man, if I could pull a Gene-style extension and get three more chapters out of this one, I would! Oh, to have Angela completely brainwashed and working unwittingly for the Seers... then again, Gabby is still quite the hypnotic subject, so perhaps we have not seen the last of her adventures.  :)  This was a great story, and I'm looking forward to reading more from the author.

(More to come as I try to catch up!)

Thank you. Yeah, it's definitely stated that romance wasn't exactly in the cards, especially for him. And yes, the author's preferences are well known at this point but who knows, really? If I ever get to write the night events between the two of them, there may be surprises in store.  ;)

Thanks to everyone who liked Gabby the Gray. My style isn't like a lot of people's, so when I write these things it sometimes feels like I'm writing for myself and no one else. I love to get feedback proving that isn't the case.

Thanks so much, grey_shadow. I expect that Bryan and Emma have more to say, anyway, so I'll probably come back to 'em eventually. :)
