Did anyone ever read the Fear Street books of R.L. Stine back in the day??  I remember reading one (Bad Moonlight) and parts of some others....

Anyway -- there's this site I ran across where a blogger reviews those books and tends to skewer bad dialogue and weak/cheesy/simpering characters.  There was one particular rant in the review of First Date I found eminently quotable:

Then Chelsea whines about moving to Fear Street and having to live in a creepy house and why can't her hair be straight like Mom's and why is her hair so mousy colored (for the record, I see a lot of mousy hair in these books and I'd like to remind Stine that fucking MOUSE is a not a color!)

A treasure trove of snark, really.... Cool Cool

notable wisdom from a Fear Street book review site

In Emma's opinion, the only way to deal with Jason is to give him a cut of the money. That way he'll be happy and no-one will have to die! Judging by the number of pages I have left (77) I predict this won't go smoothly.

Conclusion? This book is piss.

Blech, I can't even read a snarky synopsis of those idiotic books without wanting to poke my eyes out.   Sad
