Slut versus Bimbo

I wouldn't be surprised if this has been discussed here before, but what the heck...

I was reading The Green Goblin's ever amusing comments about Mindtrap Manor in the latest update thread and it got me thinking. I suppose the difference between sluts and bimbos is purely semantics (as often they are used interchangeably in the real world), but to me there is a substantial difference.

To me, in the EMC world, a "slut" is a person (usually female, but sometimes male), who has an uncontrollable urge to have sex all the time (or at least in at least regular intervals). The "slut" will have a normal (or in some cases high) intellect, but it becomes completely dulled during sexual activity, as every thought is pushed out of the "slut's" head (as their desires overwhelm their ability to reason).

A "bimbo" is a vacuous "slut", whose sole purpose is to have her physical desires met. In EMC fiction, the trappings of the "bimbo" include big boobs, bubble butt, blond hair (usually), pouty lips etc. (the physical changes sometimes are a result of a process called lovingly by its proponents as "bimboization"). The "himbo", is the male equivalent of a "bimbo". As with the "bimbo", the "himbo's" only purpose is to be a brainless sex toy.

Do these sound about right?

Your definitions sound similar to how I feel. To me a bimbo is a slut, but a slut isn't necessarily a bimbo. I think the key difference is someone who is just a slut can still function in everyday life, where as a bimbo would burn the house down trying to use a microwave.

Slut, whore and bimbo to me are all subclasses of nymphomaniacs. This is how I see the break down:

Nymphomaniac - sex addict. They can be closet or obvious. Their need for sex runs dangerously close to destroying their lives, but have the intelligence and skills to avoid social suicide most of the time.
Slut - a nymphomaniac that dresses provocatively to receive the most offers for sex as possible, which they will take up.
Whore - a slut that does it for money (though not all whores are nymphs, some might not even particularly enjoy sex)
Bimbo - a slut that lacks the intelligence to avoid ruining their lives and maintaining some semblance there of.

Not entirely, at least to me.  Perhaps it's because I don't like stupid women, but your definition of "slut" is far too limited.  Her urge to have sex might be entirely controllable, she just likes it a lot and will have sex when the opportunity presents itself (even if she has to create it), and her intelligence certainly doesn't have to go down.  There's all sorts of activities I enjoy (aside from sex) that I get a rush out of, that I focus entirely on while doing it, but my intelligence doesn't suddenly drop in the process.  I might be fixated on it and pay less attention to other things, but that's it.

My take...

SLUT: Person who feels a strong, generally uncontrollable need for sex. Usually implies that this is not a high-class sort of person- implies a certain sloppiness, lack of judgement, and control. A 'nympho' (apart from the medical diagnosis) would suggest a higher degree of control- but not by much. Nympho's try, but can't help themselves. Sluts don't bother trying to help themselves.

BIMBO: Partially a mindset- rather shallow and superficial, generally happy or at least unconcerned. 'Boy happy', generally thinking about fashion, looks, boys, etc. Partially looks- generally prefers to dress to show, and implies that they have something to show. one rarely hears of ugly bimbos (I think the term 'skank' would apply here instead.)

I think you could write a perfectly good bimbo story with no sex, but it would be hard to do that for a slut.

I also have a hard time using the term 'slut' as a friendly adjective. I might call a lovely, sex-happy pet a 'bimbo' and mean it in an affectionate way, but I would have a harder time using 'slut' as anything but an insult or put-down.

To phrase it yet another way, to me a slut would have a hard time getting off her back long enough to act like a bimbo.

I'm really thinking from an EMC standpoint from many of the stories have read (and the few that I've have written). I think there is diference between someone who likes sex a lot and someone who has an all consuming need for sex. As DR mentions, a slut a form of nymphomania. IMO, a person who merely loves sex and decides to act on their desires with many others (but can control those desires), I would call promiscuous. There are also manipulative bitches and bastards who like sex, but use it as a control mechanism. I would say that they are not truly sluts.

By real world standards, slut is used more loosely than nymphomaniac.  It's not a very nice word, for that matter.

By emc standards...a "slut story" may mean something specific, as in a story where a woman can't help fucking guys and/or girls right and left.  However, the word slut is often used by mean/degrading controllers on their victims.  "Suck my cock, slut."  It might be used by the victims themselves to refer to their own behavior.  There's no particular limit to using the word.  An Amish girl might see herself as a slut for wearing a bikini, provided she knows the word in the first place.

To me a slut is a girl with few if any inhibitions against sex. Inteligence is still an option. As I prefer inteligent, sexually uninhibited women, I prefer sluts to bimbos or nymphomaniacs. One of the pleasures of owning an inteligent woman is _talking_ to them, so bimbos are not my cup of tea. And a nympho is an addict jonesing for her fix. Not as dim as a bimbo, but a definite step in the wrong direction for conversation as well as sexual service.

I think bimbo is more insulting than slut. People accept that women aren't remaining virgins before marriage and so slut merely means a more extreme version of that. It might be insulting, but it's not as dismissive of someone as a human being as bimbo might be. Bimbo takes away power, labels someone as more a a tissue fuck -- someone to use and discard since you can't carry on a discussion. A bimbo has nothing else to offer.

nymphomania(c): excessive sexual desire by a female

Many people use bimbo and slut interchangeably.  Both are insults.  Both imply promiscuity.  The difference is that slut is general promiscuity whereas bimbo has a methodology and culture behind it. 

When you get right down to it, many of us bimbo fans (5) aren't actually bimbo fans.  We want to see the body and the mind slowly become hypersexualized.  We figure a smart (mentally strong) person would counter the effects so we drop the IQ (mentally weak) and now we've got a woman with a body that will get her tons of lewd propositions and a mind that can't conjure defenses against it.  We are fans of the forcible creation of the perfect slut.  No one-word, easily searched keyword for that yet, so we go with bimboization. 

To be an actual bimbo fan is to get hot when you hear about how high her teased blond hair reaches.  A golden-tressed, Peggy-frakin'-Bundy sets you off.  If you like bimbos then you can't read about a hand on a dick, you need to see the bright pink manicured hand stroking it with the 1.5 inch nails carefully placed not to puncture skin.

I've always thought of the two words describing different things.

I've always thought of a bimbo as somebody who was overly concerned with looking sexy, especially somebody concerned about her appearance to the exclusion of more important things - like grades or car payments. With such screwed up priotities, it is often implied that the bimbo is lacking mentally, but that doesn't have to be the case. A bimbo can also be a slut. But a bimbo could also be a virgin (at which point she's usually called a tease).

To me, a slut is someone, either male or female, frankly, who enjoys sex a lot, and is not afraid to be provocative in their pursuit of it, and to let themselves lose control while having it.  Frankly, I enjoy being called a slut, when the word is being used accurately... i.e., when I'm trying to be very sexual and, well... slutty.  In fact, it can be a major turn-on, as I'm sure is the case for a lot of women.

A nympho is a woman who needs sex to feel complete, IMO, whether she enjoys the act or not.  A bimbo is a female airhead, irrespective of whether she looks the part, or even has sex with anyone or not.  We've sort of corrupted that term in the MC community, or at least locked it into one of its particular, possible aspects... again, at least IMO.
